Paul was born in Athenry, Co. Galway on June 30, 1979. He immigrated to Chicago in 2001, where he met the love of his life and started his family. Paul was a proud member of IUOE Local 399 for 20 years, during which he served as the chief engineer at the Gray Hotel in his final years. Paul was known for his strong will, determination, love, and support for his family, friends, and community. Paul was an active member of the Chicago Gaelic Athletic Association. He played for the Limerick Hurling Club and was a founding member of the Michael Cusack Hurling Club. Paul’s passion was coaching; you could always find him on a field, regardless of the day. He coached for the St. Jarlath’s Youth GAA Club and Cassell Soccer. His most significant achievement was coaching his son, Eamonn, for the last 8 years. Their soccer team won many championships, and their Gaelic Football team is traveling to Ireland this summer to play in the Feile tournament. Paul was an avid supporter of the Liverpool Football Club, and their motto, “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” became his rallying cry during his cancer journey. Paul is leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that will forever inspire us.
