Mildred Freud Mendelson
APRIL 10, 1924 – DECEMBER 9, 2021

Mildred Freud Mendelson, née Lurie, 97, beloved wife of the late Albert Mendelson; caring former wife of the late William Freud; devoted mother of Steven (Linda) Freud, Elissa Freud (Steven Willis), Douglas Freud (Peggy Schott), and the late Bruce (Marta) Freud; proud grandmother of Michael Freud, Rebecca Willis, Sarah Willis, Jordan Freud, Jake Freud, Em Freud, Zach Freud, and Aryeh Freud; loving daughter of the late Benjamin and Bertha Lurie; dedicated sister of the late Louise (the late Sol) Hurvitz; a dear aunt and friend of many.
Millie aspired to be a full participant in a modern American life. As a child of the depression, the family moved to a different apartment every year. Millie learned to adapt to new schools and neighborhoods, and most importantly how to make new friends. As an only child until age 10, she focused on her education and she became a life long learner. Millie received an undergraduate degree from Northwestern and an MBA from the University of Chicago as one of two women in her class. Millie was committed to education, her Jewish faith, her family and her work. She had deep interest in politics and business. Millie was a loving daughter, sister, mother, step mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her compassion, curiosity, and remarkable life force.
