October 24, 1928 – July 11, 2022

Gene J. Bondi age 93, of Orland Park passed away peacefully on Monday, July 11,2022. He is survived by his loving wife, Flora, of 70 years. Loved by his children Mary Ann (Rhonny) Bondi, Gina (John) Bondi Gorski, Diane (Regis) Bondi Kennedy, Joseph (Terri Lee) Bondi. He so loved each of his beautiful grandchildren: Tara (Nick) Kennedy, Jennifer (Fritz) Gorski, Michael (Hyacinth) Pearson, Stephanie (Michael) Bondi Smith, Erika (Eric) Bondi Meyer, Gina (Jason) Kennedy Buffone and Nello Gorski, as well as his 15 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his Mother Emma, his Father Nello, his loving Mom Teresa and Dad Lawrence, and his five brothers and two sisters, who he dearly loved and respected, and his most faithfull companion Doyle. He had some some special nephews and nieces who always found the time to call or visit. Gene was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a man of God, a man who cherished his wife and family, and a “gentleman” in every single way. His kindness to others was endless. He served in the Korean War before meeting Flora. He retired from Republic Steel after many years of dedicated service. He played softball for many years and even ran well into his 70’s! He was self-motivated and always willing to help anyone in need. He served on his Association’s Board when asked to volunteer, doing much of the manual work himself for many years. He never needed to be asked to lend a helping hand whether it be for a family member, a friend or even a stranger. He was ALWAYS there. He was the type of man that would pull the car over when we were small children to help a disabled person safely cross the street. He modeled through his good example the way he wanted his children to treat others. He will be so terribly missed in our lives and in this world.
