Anna L. Koefoed

Anna Lee Koefoed (nee Smoot) Age 92 of New Lenox, IL passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on Friday, May 30, 2025. Anna was born in Accoville, WV to the late Ralph and Lula (nee Robinson) Smoot.
Beloved wife of the late Donald J. Koefoed; loving mother of Richard (Sharon) Koefoed, Donald (Susan) Koefoed, and Ronald Koefoed; cherished grandmother of Roseann (Dragos) Morar, Melissa Koefoed, Elyse Koefoed, and Elaina Koefoed; proud great grandmother of Dahlia, Bradley, Lucia, and June Morar, and Gavin Zapata; dear sister of the late Ronald Smoot, the late Jessie (Sue) Smoot, Roger (late Marilyn) Smoot, the late Richard (Cathy) Smoot, the late Otis Smoot, the late Joyce (late Donald) Atkins, Linda (late Jimmy) Gilbert, Jean (late Michael “Bud”) Blankenship, the late Vicki (late Terry) Elkins, the late Donald Smoot and the late Brenda Smoot both in infancy. Also preceded in death by sisters-in-law Marlene (late Wesley) Tucker and Adrienne (Kenneth) Colegrove; and brother-in-law Edwin (Patricia) Koefoed. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends also survive.
Anna retired from Upjohn Home Health, where she worked as a visiting nurse. During the late 1970’s to early 1980’s, Anna was employed by the New Lenox Grade School District assigned as a lunchroom/recess aide at Haines Elementary School. She was a member of Church of the Good Shepherd, Joliet, IL. Anna was a former member of the VFW Cantigny Post 367 Ladies Auxiliary, Joliet, IL. She was a volunteer Foster Grandparent with Catholic Charities, and a past member of the New Lenox Sportsmans Club. Anna’s favorite past time activities included department store shopping, watching Wheel of Fortune, and taking trips back to West Virginia. Anna enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, from 4 PM – 8 PM. Funeral Service will be at the funeral home on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet, IL.
