Dana O’Neal Best

June 23, 1963 ~ December 25, 2020

Dana W. O’Neal-Best, age 57 of Hammond, Indiana passed away December 25, 2020 in Hobart, Indiana.

God sent out an S.O.S. looking for one of his best creations to return home. So, on December 25, 2020, in the earliest hours of Christmas morning, Dana O’Neal-Best answered that call to leave her vessel here on earth and start a new adventure in heaven.

She may be gone, but Dana will never be forgotten. She is survived by Virginia, her mother; her 3 sons: Christopher, De’Andre and Michael (Gaberila); and her husband, Dennis. Her older brother, Harvey and her younger sister, Marsha. Loving sister-in-law, Shelly; 4 grandchildren: Kimora, Isabella, Noah, and Luna; nieces and nephews: Harvey Jr., Shareey, Brian, Eric, Darrion, Kenny, Davon and Oshay; and her beloved dogs, Snowflake and Holly. Dana can now rest in peace alongside her grandmother, Myrtle; nephews and nieces Sharvey and Ace and many others. Dana’s everlasting memory and her passion to put others first will live on through those mentioned here today and those with us in spirit.

Dana left an indelible mark on all those she came in contact with. Whether it be family, friends, co-workers, pets, or acquaintances, they will all tell you the same thing; calling Dana an angel was no stretch of the imagination. A lasting legacy is something we all strive to leave behind for current and future generations, onward to use as a template on how to be remembered by those you loved. Words like strong, caring, selfless, and beautiful will forever be the root of her legacy that will be a continuous gift to us and our future generations.

Dana O’Neal-Best’s legacy will continue to guide us through difficult times. Today is a difficult time, but if you know Dana, you know she is watching over us with the same guiding light she emitted in life. She truly was a beautiful soul who transcended this world. Dana will heal us and protect us from afar now.  Christmas will forever be the day Dana O’Neal-Best began her next adventure, now in heaven. Mom, one day we will all be reunited.  We love you to infinity and beyond.

⁃ Your family,
Chris, Dre, Mike, and Dennis.
