Mary Catherine “Cathy” Lucy
Mary Catherine “Cathy” Lucy (nee Ryan) was born on May 31, 1934 to Irish immigrant parents, Cornelius and Mary Josephine Ryan. She grew up in a loving home and attended St. Leo Grammar School, Mercy High School and Fox Business College.
Cathy worked as a secretary for the railroads and later as a clerk for Juvenile Court in Cook County. A devoted parishioner of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Evergreen Park for over 70 years, she was actively involved in her faith community. She sang in the choir, served as a school field trip chaperone, was a dedicated member and former officer of the Women’s Guild and volunteered at the annual parish carnival.
Wherever Cathy went, she formed deep and lasting friendships. She will be fondly remembered for her quick wit, her love for family and community and her legendary Irish soda bread.
Cathy was the beloved wife of the late Richard for over 50 years. She was a devoted sister to the late Cornelius, the late Gerald (late Caroline), the late Patricia and Loretta (late Marshall). She was the proud mother of Mary Catherine (late Jean-Marc) Krikorian, Bridget (Thomas) Duffy and Patrick. She was also a cherished grandmother to Norah, Maeve, Kevin, Patrick, Ryan and Marie.
Cathy’s warmth, kindness and unwavering love for those around her will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
