Mary Jane “Janie” Weidman

Mary Jane “Janie” Weidman, a cherished mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and long-standing resident of Park Forest, IL passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026 while in hospice care.
Born Mary Jane Ebbert on May 28, 1934, in St. Clairsville, Ohio, Janie was a source of love and care throughout her personal and professional life.
A devoted wife, Janie was predeceased by her loving husband, Phillips (Phil) Weidman. Together, they built a family foundation that was strong, loving, and nurturing. She leaves behind a legacy through her children, Charlie (married to Denise), Mike (married to Cheryl), Tim (married to Betsy), Sue (married to Jim), and Judy.
Her grandchildren, Jackie, Jen (married to Keith), Sam (married to June), Carly, Mari, Kristin (engaged to Trevor), Alli (engaged to Ryan), and Michelle (married to Matt), and her great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Asha, will forever cherish her memory and the joy, wisdom, and laughter she imparted.
Janie’s professional life was as a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN), having served compassionately at Catholic Charities and St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL. Her commitment to healthcare and helping others extended beyond her professional duties and was evident in her active involvement in the Nurses Club. Janie’s dedication to her career and her patients was a testament to her caring nature and her desire to make a difference in the lives of those she encountered.
A woman of faith, Janie was an active member of St. Lawrence O’Toole Roman Catholic Church in Matteson, IL, where she found great support in a faith-sharing community.
Janie’s love for playing bridge and various other card and board games brought joy and laughter to many gatherings. She was known for her humble sense of humor, which made every game an enjoyable and memorable event for her friends and family. Her involvement with the Park Forest Jaycettes was another avenue through which Janie connected with her community, making lasting friendships and contributing to the Park Forest community.
The family is ever grateful for the loving care provided by the professionals at Sunrise Assisted Living during Janie’s final months and to Michelle Swanson, Janie’s home care companion for 6 years who became Janie’s close friend and confidant.
As we remember Janie, we are reminded of her warmth, her sense of humor, her generosity, and her kindness. She lived a life of purpose and joy, touching the hearts of many. Janie’s life was a beautiful demonstration of love and devotion, and her spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she enriched.
Janie’s journey through life was a testament to the power of love, compassion, humor, and service. As we bid farewell to this beloved woman, we take comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Mary Jane “Janie” Weidman will be deeply missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate her life, remembering the countless cherished moments they shared with her.
A Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026, from the hours of 10:00am until 11:00am, with a Chapel Service at 11:00am, at Brady-Gill Funeral Home (16600 S. Oak Park Ave., Tinley Park), followed by Interment at Assumption Catholic Cemetery in Glenwood, Il.
