March 20, 1983  –  February 4, 2023

Matthew Davis, 39, of Chicago left this earth on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 4:05pm, surrounded by immediate family. Matthew was a warrior until his final breath, after suffering an accident 18 months earlier.

Matthew was born in Rockford, Illinois on March 20, 1983. He is predeceased by maternal grandparents Eileen and Adolph Danta, paternal grandparents Bernice and Jack Davis. Matthew is survived by his parents Diane Danta (John Skager) and Stephen Davis (Nancy Harrington-Davis), sister Amanda Davis (David Gwiazda), brothers Rob Noha (Steven Walton) and Kyle Skager (Cory Galen), uncles Ron Danta and Danny Robertshaw, aunts Linda Moser and Connie Kebert, lifelong friend Erik Phelps and a multitude of other family and friends.

Matthew graduated from Saint Xavier University Cum Laude in 2005. He was a scholar of world religions and enjoyed reading books and studying the ancient practices of Buddhism and Hinduism. Matthew at his core is a spiritual being. His intellectual curiosity drew him to seek out answers to further his personal and spiritual growth. He studied, taught and practiced karate, mediation, yoga, mysticism, tai chi, tarot, astrology, Freemasonry, E.G.C., A.A.S.R., B.O.T.A., O.T.O., and many others.

He was a proud member of Masonic Hesperia Lodge No. 411 A. F. & A. M., Paul Revere Lodge and Lux Lunae Lodge.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Matt’s love of animals, including his cat, Oriel, donations to Danny and Ron’s Rescue would be greatly appreciated. Please donate online in Matthew’s honor at https://dannyronsrescue.org/donate.

As a giving and charitable individual, Matthew chose to be an organ donor. Through the work of Gift Of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, Matthew has already saved several lives.

The family is holding a visitation at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, Frankfort, IL on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 11:00am until 1:00pm. A service celebrating the life of Matthew Davis will commence at 1:00pm. A luncheon will immediately follow.

While Matthew’s earthly body is no longer among the living, his spiritual essence, energy and life force will be with us always.
