Max Tannenbaum

Beloved husband of the late Jean, dear father of Dr. Charles (Susan), devoted son of the late Isodore and Estherinda Tannenbaum, cherished Papa Max of Rachel and Rebecca. Fond brother of the late Jerry (the late Madeline), the late Harold (the late Gertrude, Gene), the late Frank (the late Augusta and the late Zelda) and the late Evelyn. Fond uncle and great-uncle to many nieces and nephews. Founder with his wife of the Avrohom Yitzchock Tannenbaum Chabad House at Northwestern University and founding member of Congregation Rodfei Shalom on Chicago’s southside. WW II Veteran. Poet. Proprietor of Mr. T’s Records on Chicago’s southside where he instituted the award winning – Operation Report Card, a program that incentivized inner city grammar school students to do well in school by providing phonograph record prizes to the best and most improved report cards. Max and his wife Jean were longtime volunteers at the Northwest Home for the Aged. Always strove to make a difference and would ponder ways to make people smile. Leaves behind his loving and devoted caregivers – Anna and Wieslaw, angels from Poland.

Funeral services November 8, 2023, 11 am at Weinstein and Piser Funeral Home, 111 Skokie Blvd, Wilmette, IL. Interment following at Waldheim Cemetery, 1400 Des Plaines Avenue, Forest Park, IL, Anshe Emet Section, the entrance is on 16th Street.
