Mary T. McLaughlin

May 19, 1951  –  June 30, 2025

Mary Teresa McLaughlin (née Doolan) born May 19, 1951 in Killarney, Kerry, Ireland, loving daughter of the late Jarlath and Margaret Doolan, passed away June 30, 2025. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Edward Anthony “Tony” McLaughlin.

Mary was the selfless and loving mother of Finnuala McLaughlin (Dave Dobbins), Monica McLaughlin (Tim German), Michael (Gina) McLaughlin, and Kevin McLaughlin, the cherished grandmother of Connor Dobbins, Emmett Dobbins, and Corryn German. She was the beloved eldest sister of the Doolan family: John, Nora, Peggy, Connie (late Kathy), Kate Hickey (late John), Paul (Sheila), Edward (Margaret), and the late Patrick (late Theresa) (Theresa), and the late Denis. She was a loving sister-in-law, and an adored aunt of many nieces and nephews.

After doing a three-year commercial course (secretarial) at the Presentation Convent Secondary School in Killarney, she went to work in local hotels and spent 6 months in Bern, Switzerland. She loved the American tourists and she set her sights on moving to America. She was a nanny and restaurant server and quickly connected to the Irish community.

Sweet and shy, she met her match in the gregarious Tony. She was embraced by the big and close-knit McLaughlin family. Mary raised their four children in an idyllic environment – unconditional love, selfless devotion, an and easy-going approach. She would go above and beyond for her children well into adulthood! She was a delighted and devoted grandma, adored by her grandchildren through every stage.

Mary helped Tony run their home-building businesses. She was called upon regularly to help take care of elders, who appreciated her quick work and her easy disposition.

She was very active in the Kerry and the Donegal Associations and Gaelic Park. She stayed very close with her beloved family back home and visited as often as she could. Mary’s locally-famous scones filled the bellies and warmed the hearts of the fellow Irish. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with friends and family.

The entire family is extremely grateful for her selfless generosity and unending kindness.

She will be profoundly missed.
