Robert Papan

January 24, 1931  –  April 24, 2024

Robert “Bob” Papan, age 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 after living a long, happy life with his beloved wife Loretta, (nee Krohn) of 70 years. Bob grew up in South Deering with his loving parents Joseph and Stefania and brothers John (Elaine) and Joseph (Mary). He was a devoted Catholic, ever proud of his grammar school roots at St. Kevin’s parish, where they were also married.

He was a proud Army veteran who served in Korea working in communications. He recently enjoyed an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. where he was able to visit the Korean War Memorial.

Bob was a printer by trade, setting type on linotype machines at the Southtown Economist. However, his passion in life was his family. He and Loretta raised their five children in Calumet Park and Alsip, finally settling in Orland Park. You could always find him on the sidelines of everyone’s sporting events and in the audience supporting our school activities and ceremonies. He was a devoted father of Robert Papan, James (Mary Ann) Papan, Michael (Ellen) Papan, William (Gina) Papan and Sandra (David) Myers. He was an adored grandfather of Jennifer (Michael), Erica (Micheal), Timothy, Michele, Alyssa (Luke), Lauryn, Daniel and Andrew. He also was a special great-grandfather of Lillian, Dorothy, Jack, Penelope, Maryelise, Edan, and Vivian.

He was dearly loved by his numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was a friend to all and beloved by everyone he met.
