Thomas & Joanne Brogan

Thomas & Joanne Brogan

Thomas Eugene Brogan, aged 88, was called to rest January 12, 2022. He passed peacefully in the arms of his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Joanne (Reamer) Brogan; loving father of Susan (Brogan) Allen and Carole (Brogan) Vallianatos; devoted grandfather of Cassidy, Thomas, Charles, Nikolas, Angeleah, Julian, and Evangeline. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Brogan. A graduate of Saint Rita of Cascia High School, class of ’51, and Loyola University. Proudly served as Captain in the Army. Tom and Joanne are united again in eternal life, and will be celebrated together in Catholic services at St. Cyril in Lemont. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Rita High School . Tom was social, outgoing and always enjoyed the company of family and friends. He and his life-long group of guys frequented their favorite southside lunch spots and usually spent most of the afternoon together. No matter what the situation or whom he newly met, Tom would get the conversation going asking about their high school or where they grew up. They quickly learned that Tom graduated from St. Rita and Loyola, grew up in Englewood, and was stationed in Hawaii during his time in the Army. Tom’s outgoing personality was well suited for his career selling life insurance and retirement plans for The New England across the Midwest. His success provided Joanne and him an opportunity to build their home in Palos Hills where they enjoyed close friendships with their neighbors on Stratford Lane and where they were active members of St. Patricia parish. Later in life, Tom and Joanne lived gratefully with their daughter Carole and her family in Lemont. Tom was not one to spend his golden years sitting around the house often walking 2 miles a day. After reading the Chicago Tribune, Tom would walk to his favorite spots for coffee or a croissant or bring his grandchildren to McDonald’s for a cheeseburger. By far, his favorite was the Illinois Bar & Grill (IBG) on State Street where he relished his new friendships and their camaraderie. Just prior to Joanne’s passing, Tom pushed Joanne in her wheelchair over a mile so they could enjoy the Bears game together with their friends at IBG. It was a great day for them. The family is very appreciative of everyone at IBG who very welcoming to Tom and caring in so many ways. You made his golden years just the way he lived his life. For information please call 815/462-0711 or 815/260-0668 or visit www.orricofuneral.com
